KACV-TV documents the life of Charles Goodnight who became a rancher at twenty and fought the Comanche Indians in the Red River War at twenty-four. Along with his business partner Oliver Loving, Goodnight blazed one of the most heavily traveled cattle trails in the Southwest. Ten years later, in 1876, Goodnight established a ranch near Palo Duro Canyon and formed a partnership with Irish investor, John Adair. Their ranch, now known as the JA, soon covered more than a million acres and is the oldest operating ranch in the Texas Panhandle.
