The sixth movement of the suite, entitled "Plow," is based on a mural by Julius Woeltz entitled Disk Harrow, located in the U.S. Federal Courthouse in Amarillo. It bears the following Old Testament inscription: "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth." Ps. 104:14.

"Plow" portrays the repetitive physical labor of plowing and represents the sustenance rising from the soil.
