The Prologue is entitled "Hymn to the Earth." It is based on a mural painted for the Panhandle-Plains Museum by Ben Carlton Mead, Antelope Creek which depicts prehistoric agriculture on the High Plains. In this mural Native Americans are planting maize, as carefully rounded holes are prepared for each stalk of corn. The Biblical inscription for this movement is, "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof: the world and they that dwelleth therein." Ps. 24:1.
